REASON FOR TREATMENT: 

Cartaze suffered cervical spine injury (C6-C7) by a motor vehicle accident  on 09/24/2006.

DIAGNOSIS: Spinal Cord Injury (Cervical segments) 

STEM CELL TREATMENT PLAN:

Bone marrow stem cell implantation;

Self stem cell activation and proliferation program;

Rehabilitation;

BEFORE THE TREATMENT (17^th –July -2007):

He was bedridden, and because of his long-time bed, he had bedsore. He lost the feeling of his lower extremities and because of this, his legs was burned seriously (3 degree burn wounds of both lower extremities and severe bedsore of SI). There is severe muscular atrophy of both hands and his legs. The joints of his fingers and wrists are all rigid. The motor range of his shoulders limited, he can not lift his arms higher than his head. The muscles of his arms are very weak, there is no strengthen of his legs muscle. He lost the sensor of his legs and he can not move his legs even with effort.   

AFTER STEM CELL TREATMENT (2^nd-October-2007):

He had lot of improvement. The burn wounds and the bedsores are basically cured. He felt that he was stronger than before. The muscle of his right hand, arms and legs are stronger than before. He can move right hand more freely. The muscles of his wrist and fingers are now soft than before, the wrist joint and shoulder joint can are not as rigid as before, the motor range is larger than before. He can lift his arms easily and do a circle movement easily. The fingers can move more flexible than before. He can hold the cup and drink easier than before, he can wear a glasses more easily than before. Now he can type the computer with his little finger. After the stem cell treatment, he had more sensation of his body: he only had some sensation when someone hitting his leg hardly, but now he can feel more touch feeling such as doctor change the dressing for him. Even he still can not stand up, but now he can move his legs and feet a little with his effort.      

When they came back to USA, his mother, Mrs. Ragland sent us an email:

“Cartaze can feed himself with his right hand; I am so happy that I made the trip to get help for Cartaze.  I am really thankful for the improvements and the progress he is making, hopefully we will be back next year.”

“Cartaze is getting stronger, he can catch his basketball between his wrists, his right thumbs bend a little, his legs are healing real good, the heels are practically healed.”

Cartaze can hold his balance when I put him in sitting position, he was not able to that a few weeks ago, and Cartaze pointer finger has been having movement.

“Cartaze is coming along really good, with the bed raised-up, he can push himself into a sitting position and hold his balance for quite awhile, he is really getting strong, and his legs are still moving a lot.”
