The Department of Neurosurgery offers a complete range of services for patients with diseases of the brain, spine and peripheral nervous system and involves more than just brain surgery.
Neurosurgery
Surgery is usually the first step in treating most benign and many malignant tumors, Brain/Spine trauma and AVM aneurysm.
Radiation Therapy
The goal of radiation therapy is to cure brain tumors, or, when brain tumors can’t be cured, to slow their growth or shrink them. We also provide Gamma Knife treatment, which is preferred treatment to some small brain tumors and AVMs.
Chemotherapy
“Chemotherapy” is the use of drugs to treat cancer. Chemotherapy drugs are often used to treat malignant or higher grade tumors, but may also be used to treat low grade and benign brain tumors. Since we have closer cooperationship with top pharmaceutical research institutes, we can provide most advanced chemical therapy to our patients.

As one of the introducers of neurosurgery in China, Dr. Wang Zhongcheng has made distinguished contributions to the clinical practice, teaching, and scientific research of neurosurgery. Especially in the field of brain stem tumor, brain aneurysm, cerebral vascular malformation, intraspinal tumor, microneurosurgery, neural interventional therapy, and neuroimaging, he has created five world’s-first. Firstly, he is the only person in the world who has performed more than 10,000 neurosurgeries. Secondly, he is the most experienced specialist in neurosurgery, who has done the most surgeries for cerebral vascular malformation in the world. Thirdly, he was one of the specialists in neurosurgery, who had successfully performed more than 1000 cerebral aneurysm operations as early as ten years ago. In 1985, he successfully excised a giant aneurysm of 9cm in diameter, which is still the only one in the world. Fourthly, during the recent 10 years, he has conducted more than 524 surgeries on the brain stem, with an operative mortality of less than 1%, being in the first place in the world. Fifthly, he has completed 290 excisions of intraspinal tumor, with no death or paralysis, being in the leading position in the world.
