Background

Mr. Xing, a 78 year old male patient from China, who was admitted into Beijing Tiantan Puhua International Hospital on 4th March 2010, due to coronary artery disease. He was busy with his life in the past. Six years ago, he suddenly felt uncomfortable with his heart. There was a feeling of precordialgia, accompanied with chest distress and shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with Myocardial Infarction. A procedure of coronary artery stent implantation followed. The procedure was successful, and he recovered well after the surgery. However, he suffered from the above symptoms again four years after his surgery. Relevant examinations revealed that infarction occurred in the stent implantation area with heart failure (the type of heart failure was not clear). He then received a recanalization procedure and some symptomatic therapies for his heart failure. His condition improved after the procedure. In order to search for a further treatment, he visited Beijing Tiantan Puhua International hospital.

He required plenty of rest in order to go on with his day. He did not suffer from precordialgia, nor chest distress, or short of breath. His sleep quality was well, as well as his appetite.

Treatment

Injections of stem cells (Mesenchymal Stem Cells-MSCS)

Medical condition pre-stem cell treatment

After injections of mesenchymal stem cells, Mr. Xing feels a great improvement on his fatigue feeling of his legs. Now, he is able to walk approximately for 1000 meters without a stop, which is impossible for him before the stem cell treatment. After the stem cell injections, the condition was improved. His urea nitrogen decreases from 12.4mmol/L to 7.6mmol/L, and his blood uric acid also becomes lower than before. Prior to stem cell treatment, it was 600umol/L. One month later, it is 460umol/L. His homocysteine is 22.7umol/L, much lower than the prior condition of 27.3umol/L. Great improvement can also present on his β2 microglobulin. Before stem cell therapy, it was 3213.70ug/L. After the treatment, it is 2707.00ug/L, which is much lower.
