Background
Jerica Elizabeth Cole, an 8 years old girl from USA, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, which was caused due to an anoxic injury during delivery.
Medical Condition Pre-Stem Cell Treatment
Prior to treatment, Jerica’s Physical Appearance and size resembled that of a child younger than her age. She has a condition referred to as: right gaze deviation with rhythmic movement of her eyes. Her head tilts to right, as result of her lack of physical strength in her neck. Jerica is suffering from Tonic Contraction on her limbs. As a result of the brain injury at birth, Jerica is unable to walk without support. She is unable to sit by herself, since her sitting balance is poor. Jerica has a obvious condition of Bilateral over-abducted hip joints, and her knees are unable be to be stretched in the straight to a full range of movement.
Although 8 years old, Jerica is still unable to speak full sentences. She suffers from dysarthria with drooling. Although she is not fully verbal. She is able to communicate with her eyes, and respond with approximately ten words.
Jerica’s parents decided to bring Jerica to China for treatment. They felt that conventional Physiotherapy, which was given to Jerica since the age of two months in the United States, was not enough to provide her with a sufficient and reasonable Quality of Life. As they look at Jerica, they are hoping that one day in the future Jerica will become more independent.
Stem cell treatment
4 x injections of neural stem cells and self stem cell activation and proliferation therapy, physical therapy, and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Medical Condition Post-Stem Cell Treatment
Following 4 x Stem Cell Treatments, Jerica’s Condition Improved. She now has more neck control and improved sitting balance. She can now turn her neck more easily, and support herself while sitting for between 10 to 30 seconds. As the muscle tone in her extremities improved, Jerica is now able to move her limbs more easily. Compared to the pre-treatment condition, it appears that it is much easier for Jerica to catch objects, while displaying better control and dexterity of her arms. She is now able to walk with support. She is now able to respond to verbal instructions more quickly. The abduction of her hip joints has improved greatly, and she has gained almost full extension of the left lower limb.
Jerica’s drooling has reduced and her swallowing has also improved. She now has a much better appetite.
Jerica’s family was very content, impressed, and highly satisfied with the range of treatment and the services offered in Beijing Tiantan Puhua International Hospital. While leaving, they said that they are planning to bring Jerica back for treatment again in 6 months time, since they can now witness what improvements she is able to achieve.
