Background
Renad Alotaibi is a 5 year old girl from Saudi Arabia. She was admitted into Beijing Tiantan Puhua International Hospital, due to “Postnatal retardation of speech, movement and motor disorder of limbs for more than 5 years”.
Medical condition pre-stem cell treatment
Prior to her arrival at the hospital, Renad suffered from retardation in speech, movement and motor disorder of limbs.
She did not reach the milestones at the appropriate chronological age. She was able to respond to sound including voice and objects. There was no obvious drooling. She could pronounce some simple words like “Mom” and “I”. Muscle tone was abnormally increased, especially on the left side. She had athetosis, a movement disorder, in her left arm and hand. She suffered from involuntary movements in her limbs, especially in the lower limbs. She could try to touch and catch objects like a pen, however, she could not hold them tightly, nor could she attempt writing. She was not able to control her movement. She could not stand by herself. Her hip joints were not able to extend appropriately. Her feet were chronically in a mild intortion position.
Stem cell treatment
Four neural stem cell injections via lumbar puncture, self stem cell activation and proliferation program, physical therapy, and TCM
Medical condition post-stem cell treatment
After the stem cell treatment, she had a better control of her head and torso. Involuntary movements of her limbs have been significantly improved, especially in the upper limbs. No significant involuntary movement is noted when she is resting - in the past, her involuntary movement disappeared only when she was asleep. Her own control of the movements of upper limbs is better than before too. She responds more actively and sensitively. Now, she is able to communicate with her mother when she wants to urinate. Coordination of her limbs is also improved. Her speech is clearer than before. She is able to pronounce some simple words as “Dad”, “Mom”, and “Auntie” more clearly.
