Stem cell treatment for multiple sclerosis

Name: Pablo Vazquez
Gender: Male
Country: Australia
Age: 35
Diagnosis: Multiple Sclerosis
Treatment method: Four neural stem cell injections via lumbar puncture, self stem cell activation and proliferation program, physical therapy

Background

Pablo Vazquez is a 35 year old male patient from Australia. He was admitted into Beijing Tiantan Puhua International Hospital, due to “Progressive motor disability of the limbs for more than five years”.

Medical condition pre-stem cell treatment

Prior to his arrival at Tiantan Puhua International hospital, Mr. Vazquez suffered from ataxia, spasticity and cognitive disorder.

Mr. Vazquez had walking difficulties and fatigue. He had poor balance, with noted wide based ataxic gait. His muscle tone was increased in his lower limbs, so the relevant movements were not flexible. He felt heavy and unsteady with his legs. He also felt some numbness and tingling in his feet.

When measured, it was noted that his muscle strength was at “level 4” in the proximal lower limbs and at “level 4-” in the distal lower limbs. The upper limbs measured normal. Positive clonus in both ankles was noted.

His “finger-to-nose” test and “rapid alternating movements” were relatively slow and clumsy, especially on the left side. “Toe heel shin” test was inaccurate, especially on the right side. He was troubled by symptoms of urgent urination and incontinence. The CSF assessment showed positive oligoclonal bands. EDSS: 6.0.

Stem cell treatment

Four neural stem cell injections via lumbar puncture, one neural stem cell injections via venous approach, self stem cell activation, proliferation therapy, rehabilitation therapy, and TCM

Medical condition post-stem cell treatment

After treatment, Mr. Vazquez’s condition improved. His muscle tone decreased to some extent, which has made his movement more flexible than it was prior to treatment. He can do “rapid-alternating-movements” more quickly and with more flexibility. His “finger-to-nose” test is more accurate as well.

Mr. Vazquez is more energetic and feels less fatigued than before. Prior to treatment, he was only able to walk for 2 or 3 steps without assistance. However, he is now able to walk more than 10 meters without a stopping for a rest. Improvements can also be seen with his balance and wide-based gait. His urinary dysfunction was greatly improved. EDSS: 5.5.
