Pituitary tumor
Pituitary tumor (also known as Hypophysoma), is a type of tumor that grows abnormally in pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is quite important in the human body in that it regulates the balance of hormones. Pituitary tumor may cause excessive production of hormones, which regulates important functions of body. It may also restrict normal functions of pituitary gland, resulting lower levels of hormones. Most pituitary tumors are adenomas. Adenomas are noncancerous growths, which remain confined to pituitary gland, or surround tissues, and are not invasive.
Treatment for pituitary tumor is to control the growth of it, or remove it by surgery. Besides, medications for correcting abnormal hormone production are also required.
