Cerebral palsy
Cerebral palsy (also known as CP), belongs to a group of disorders that affect sufferer's ability to move and to maintain balance and posture. It is non-progressive and non-contagious, caused by damage to the motor control centers of the developing brain. Some may get CP during pregnancy; some may get it during childbirth, or after birth up to about age three. The motor disorders caused by CP are often accompanied with disturbances of cognition, perception, sensation, communication, behavior, epilepsy, and secondary musculoskeletal problems. Babies with cerebral palsy are often noted to have the problems of slow to sit, roll over, crawl, smile or walk.
No cure for CP nowadays is known. However, there are treatments that are able to improve the symptoms and life quality of babies with CP, such as: stem cell treatment, braces, medicines, physical, occupational and speech therapy.
